There are some who have decided to take advantage of the hurricane devastation that has struck New York City by helping themselves to other people’s property as the looting has reached an all time high. AP is reporting that nine people have already been arrested for looting from businesses that have been affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Three people were arrested at a gas station, three at a Radio Shack, and two at a clothing store in the Rockaways, a coastal area of the borough of Queens.

The Rockaway Peninsula was severely damaged by flooding and violent winds during the storm. Surges left Rockaway Beach inundated, and an out-of-control six-alarm fire destroyed more than 80 homes in the Breezy Point section of the peninsula Monday night.

These crimes occurred Monday and Tuesday.
