Today President Obama made history yet again, by being the first U.S. President to visit Burma, a Southeastern Asian country known for systematically violating the human rights of its citizens. Due to it’s tyrannical form of government, the U.S. and other countries belonging to the United Nations very rarely associated with the country.

President Obama opened the lines of communication between the U.S. and Burma stating “When I took office as president, I sent a message to those governments who ruled be fear: we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist. So today, I have come to keep my promise, and extend the hand of friendship.”
During his 6 hour visit to Burma, President Obama met with the country’s president, Thein Sein and democratic political prisoner Aung San Suu Kyi.
