So, almost a year ago 2Pac is resurrected at the annual Coachella music festival, and today Ford, a popular car brand is using the poetic creations of the late west coast icon.
While his physical body isn’t here to read the poem himself for Ford, its recited as four men extract a red 2013 Ford Fusion from a block of concrete. “The Rose That Grew From Concrete” is the name of the Tupac poem that influenced the commercial. Now, Ford believes they are delivering a riveting message to the African American community
Complex Magazine asked the interesting question: Is the Ford Fusion commercial worthy of such a meaningful Tupac poem as a “rose”?
An excerpt from Tupac’s poem is here:
“Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete? Proving nature’s law is wrong it learned to walk without having feet. Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams, it learned to breathe fresh air. Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no one else ever cared.”
