According to the Irving Police Department, Brent was driving too fast and hit the “outside curb” when his car flipped over and came to a stop in the middle of the road around 2:20 AM Friday night. By the time police arrived at the scene, Brent was pulling Brown out of the vehicle which landed upside down and was on fire. Brown was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Brent was given a field sobriety test which he failed, and the hospital later tested his blood to determine his exact alcohol blood level. The results from the lab work have not been released yet.

Brent was arrested by the Irving PD and was charged with a second degree felony charge at 4:14 AM and his bond was set at $500,000 this Sunday morning.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones released a statement today saying:

“We are deeply saddened by the news of this accident and the passing of Jerry Brown. At this time, our hearts and prayers and deepest sympathies are with the members of Jerry’s family and all of those who knew him and loved him.”
