We like to see couples in love as much as the next person, but it looks like all of the “Kimye” media coverage might actually be backfiring on Kanye West’s music career. Music industry insiders feel that his constant appearances on Kim’s reality show, “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and constantly being in blogs for his relationship status and not his music is devaluing his brand. Sources recently told NY Daily News that:
“His personal life is overpowering his music. Every time he plays, people are wondering if Kim is going to be there. It’s not a good thing for him, especially if he wants to be taken seriously,”
Kanye is slated to perform three New Year’s weekend shows at Atlantic City’s casino, Revel, and the promoter is revealing that ticket sales are nowhere near sold out, which may be the sign of a declining music career for the Chicago native.
Rumors have it that this info isn’t falling on deaf ears, and that Kanye is currently looking to revamp his team to hopefully get the focus back on his music and art versus Kimye’s matching outfits. But let’s not forget that Yeezy scored six grammy nominations this year, dropped the Cruel Summer album and pulled in an estimated $35 million in 2012. Things aren’t looking too shabby for him.
