If there were anybody we would NOT want to be this Thursday morning, it would have to be Notre Dame’s star linebacker, Manti Te’o. News hit the internet yesterday that his dead girlfriend who had garnered him so much media attention and sympathy throughout the football world ,was actually a fake. According to DeadSpin.com, Lenny Kekua, the alleged girlfriend of Te’o who supposedly died of Leukemia in a California hospital was in fact an imaginary person.
Te’o is now claiming that he is actually the victim and was tricked by an online prankster, while many in the Sports world think Te’o and his family fabricated the story in order to build sympathy from fans in hopes of snagging him a Heisman trophy. Others think it may be to hide something about his sexuality. Either way, Twitter has been on FIRE with hilarious commentary from football fans and regular old joe schmoes.
