Juicy J recently joined the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$ and more who sat down with Jay Z’s Life + Times website to decode the meaning and story behind some of their biggest hits. In this segment of Decoded, Juicy J reminisces on how he put together the 2012 strip club anthem, “Bands A Make Her Dance” and like they say, the rest is history.
I was in this chick’s apartment getting high as fuck. I just had this idea of “Bands a make her dance” but I didn’t have a beat yet. Me and my engineer Crazy Mike were recording songs on his $100 microphone. We recorded like seven songs that night. Mike Will texted me like ‘yo man, I’m about to send you some beats over’.
I was going through the beats, and I heard this one beat. The bands a maker her dance hook was in my head and I was like man this hook goes crazy with this beat. I kept playing it over and over again. It took me about an hour and a half, I wrote the song. Then I released it on Twitter and it went crazy.
