Mother of the late, Whitney Houston seems to be using writing as a grieving process since the untimely February 2012 death of Whitney. In her new tell-all book, Remembering Whitney, Cissy Houston, the 79 year-old mother and grandmother reveals how she really felt watching her daughter’s addiction to drugs and sometimes volatile relationship with ex-husband, Bobby Brown.
In one section of the book, Cissy recalls how she knew that Whitney was using drugs, writing:
“She started partying, and she didn’t really know how to stop… I want people to know the truth about her, how she really was.”
“I used to wonder what she was doing at night, where she was … Whitney hid from me,”
Cissy on Whitney’s relationship with Bobby Brown:
“She finally got rid of him, but it was too late. I don’t blame Bobby for introducing Nippy to drugs.”
Cissy on if she felt like she could’ve “saved” Whitney:
“Since my daughter died, I’ve struggled with so many things… I’m still so angry – at Nippy, at the world, at myself. Should I have done things differently? She was a person whose life and voice touched millions of people. I’m as proud as any mother could be about her daughter, but I would trade every last bit of it to have my baby back.”
Remembering Whitney hits stands Tuesday January 29 and Cissy is also slated to appear on Oprah’s Next Chapter on January 28, where she will supposedly be giving a candid opinion on Whitney’s life, death, Bobbi Kristina and more. Check out a clip from Cissy’s OWN interview below.
