Legendary hip hop pioneer Big Daddy Kane is on his way back to the scene, after being out of sight for over a decade. The historical rapper had an interview recently with Fuse, and he discussed his brand new project with Hip Hop group, Lifted Crew, and singer, Showtyme.

This new project, explained by Kane, will be titled Back to the Future and will merge 60’s and 70’s soul music with classic hip hop. The entire project was recorded over live instrumentals.

“The album is called Back to the Future, and we came together collectively – myself Big Daddy Kane, Showtyme, who sings with Pharoahe Monch, and the Lifted Crew – and we basically merged together…[with] three different units coming together as one to form Las Supper,” he said, “What we tried to do is basically bring back the vintage ’60s and ’70s soul – which you see a lot of people doing [including] Sharon Jones, Amy Winehouse, [and] Raphael Saadiq – but combining it with vintage Hip Hop, like the stuff that I was doing from the beginning of my career [in] the Public Enemy, Rakim KRS-One era…[we’re] doing it over nothing but live instruments – live guitar, live trumpet, even on down to the glockenspiel.”

“The chemistry has just been so great. I’ve enjoyed working with these guys, we’re always laughing, having a good time, and then when we connect, it could be where something that was supposed to be very simple, once we connect on it, we end up taking it to a whole another level.”

Big Daddy Kane recently dropped a new single produced by DJ Premier, “28 Bars of Kane”, which honored the new Air Jordan XX8 sneaker release.
