Lil Mama To Play Left Eye In New TLC Biopic

Don’t call it a comeback, I’ve been here for years. That must be Lil Mama’s motto as she added a new acting role to her resume.

The 23-year old who popped on the scene a few years back with the catchy “Lip Gloss” single and then turned celebrity judge on America’s Best Dance Crew has been cast to play the late Lisa “Lefy Eye” Lopes in an upcoming Vh1 biopic on R&B group TLC.

Lopes, 1/3 of the trailblazing group TLC, tragically died in a car accident in 2002 in Honduras.

MC Lyte spilled the beans on the project with HipHollywood stating,

“I’m going to put a little bit of my concentration and focus on helping to uplift a sister who is talented, smart and witty who just had her chances cut too short and that’s Lil Mama because she is a talented young lady. So I want to see her do some beautiful things and I don’t know if I’m supposed to say but I will… She just got the role of Left Eye in TLC’s new movie so I am so excited for her.”

Congratulations Lil Mama and quiet as kept, her 2008 debut album VYP (Voice of the Young People) was a real good project though highly slept on and contained many influences from TLC with her singing and rapping throughout the project.

Hopefully Jay-Z and Alicia Keys… and the rest of the world can now finally forgive her for her remix version of “Empire State Of Mind” at the 2008 VMAs.

TLC’s surviving members Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas are also executive producing and serving as consultants on the project which is in pre-production.
