The Supreme Court Upholds C-Murder’s Murder Conviction
C-Murder was dealt a heartfelt blow yesterday after his life in prison murder sentence was upheld by The Supreme Court.
The No Limit MC was previously convicted of murdering 16-year-old Steven Thomas outside of a Jefferson Parrish, Louisiana nightclub in 2002.
Lawyers for C-Murder argued that juries must reach unanimous verdicts in criminal cases and Master P’s younger brother was convicted on a jury vote of 10-2.
According To the Associated Press, The Supreme Court passed up another chance to deal with an anomaly of constitutional law that requires federal juries to reach unanimous verdicts in criminal cases, but allows states to make different rules.
Louisiana and Oregon are the only two states that allow for non-unanimous convictions.
C-Murder, whose real name is Corey Miller, was sentenced to life behind bars in 2009 and had filed several appeals.
The justices recently have rejected similar appeals asking them to treat state and federal trials equally. Decisions involving gun rights and other issues generally require states to extend the same constitutional rights as the federal government.
C-Murder may or may have not committed the murder but he was wilding out back then.
Master P had all the money he could spend and all C-Murder had to do was go along for the ride. I guess having your name ring out in the streets meant more.
