Some of today’s biggest stars all urge Obama to change drug laws.
Believe it or not, there are several stars, including rapper Lil Wayne, who are urging Obama to focus on fixing drug laws. Even Russell Simmons has placed together a community of celebrities and civil rights leaders to present a letter to Barack on this past Tuesday. According to reports on The Grio, These guys believe that its time that the president becomes aware of the impact of several incarcerations is doing to communities. Kim Kardashian, Scarlett Johansson, and even Ron Howard are among these citizen leaders, whom are concerned with today’s laws.
“It is critical that we change both the way we think about drug laws in this country and how we generate positive solutions that leave a lasting impact on rebuilding our communities,” Simmons said, citing Department of Justice information. The data shows that the U.S. jails more people than any other country in the world. In short words, these stars want to see more rehabilitation outside of just incarceration for the offenders.
Today, drug offenders comprise nearly half the federal prison population in the U.S. What do you think about this stance? We want to know your thoughts. Comment below.
