Reebok Terminates Endorsement Deal With Rick Ross Over Date Rape Lyrics
Rapper Rick Ross a/k/a William Roberts suffered a lethal blow today as Reebok just ended his endorsement deal with the athletic company.
Reebok, a subsidiary of Germany company Adidas, said in a statement:
“While we do not believe that Rick Ross condones sexual assault, we are very disappointed he has yet to display an understanding of the seriousness of this issue or an appropriate level of remorse. At this time, it is in everyone’s best interest for Reebok to end its partnership with Mr. Ross.”
Ross had previously inked an endorsement deal with the company and promoted its shoes in print and TV commercials.
Women’s rights organizations had vehemently protested Ross and called for his removal after he spit these lyrics on Rocko’s hit single “U.O.E.N.O.” speaking about a date rape situation.
“Put molly all in her champagne, she ain’t even know it, I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain’t even know it.”
The Miami MC, whose known for identity theft and his blatant lying, previously gave a half-hearted apology and stated that the lyrics were misinterpreted.
Rocko also was left no choice and removed Ross from the song as well.
