Friends & Family Pay Respects At Kris Kross’ Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly’s Wake, Funeral To Held Today In Atlanta [Exclusive Photos]
Yesterday family, friends and fans came out to pay their respects at the wake of the late Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly of Kriss Kross who died last week on May 1st.
One half of the trendsetting teenage rap group from the 90s, Kriss Kross put Jermaine Dupri and his record label So So Def on the map with their breakout hit “Jump.”
The wake was held in Atlanta at Murray Brother Funeral Home and those in attendance included his rhyme partner Chris “Daddy Mac” Smith, Jermaine Dupri’s father and record executive Michael Mauldin, Kriss Kross turntablist DJ Nabs and former So So Def label mate Kandi Burruss.
The open casket mourning was open to the public as well as the funeral which will be held today at Jackson Memorial Baptist Church.
Going out in style, Mac Daddy was dressed in a black suit, white shirt and pink tie, sporting earrings and a goatee instead of his signature backwards pants.
Kelly’s people are also coming out to give him a proper send off as Chico DeBarge, Xscape and KeKe Wyatt are scheduled to sing selections during the funeral.
Jermaine Dupri, Daddy Mac, Youtha “DJ Nabs” and Michael Mauldin are also expected to speak at Kelly’s home going service which begins at 12 noon.
Again, this is a heartfelt blow for Hip-Hop as we say goodbye to the .34-year-old MC.
Here are a few pictures from the wake below.
