Russell Simmons Endorses Bill de Blasio NYC Mayorial Race [Video]
Def Jam co-founder and The Godfather of Hip-Hop Russell Simmons has announced that he’ll be supporting community activist Bill de Blasio in the New York City mayoral race.
de Blasio has often spoken out against NY’s stop and frisk harassment which targets mostly Black people and wants to make sure public schools are back on track.
He’s even asking for wealthier tax payers to do more to support better education and making housing more affordable which Simmons doesn’t have a problem with.
Uncle Russ stated,
“New York City has become a Tale of Two Cities: Affordable housing has become an oxymoron; schools and hospitals and libraries are being shut down; and too many young men are having their dignity denied when they’re stopped and frisked simply because of what they look like. But New Yorkers get each other’s backs — and I know we can heal the inequality keeping this city apart. We just need a leader with the strength and compassion to help bring it back together. That leader is Bill de Blasio.”
