Kevin Durant Signs With Roc Nation
Kevin Durant can officially throw up The Roc sign now as the superstar basketball player has officially signed on the dotted line and joined Roc Nation Sports.
As previously reported, the Oklahoma City Thunder forward parted ways with agent Rob Pelinka and had been in talks to sign with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports Agency.
The deal was waiting to be finalized until Jigga got clearance to become a licensed NBA sports agent which was completed last week.
According to ESPN, a source told the sports network that “Kevin believes he doesn’t need a contract agent now because he signed an $85 million extension with the Thunder in 2010 that will take him through the 2015-16 season. Instead, Durant — already one of the most marketable players in the league — has told those close to him that he wants to increase his brand.”
Durant is one of the most marketable players in the NBA and has endorsement deals with Nike, Sprint, Gatorade, Skullcandy headphones, BBVA Compass, 2K Sports and Panini America.
Jigga had previously signed New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano, New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith and former Notre Dame guard Skylar Diggins, who was recently selected third by the Tulsa Shock in the WNBA draft, to Roc Nation sports.
Durant posted a photo on his Instagram account of himself and Jay-Z signing the paperwork to make his agency change official. He stated,
“Grateful for this opportunity with Roc Nation Sport. It’s go time.”
Hov added,
“He has a 90.5% free throw shooting rate, the youngest player in NBA history to join the 50-40-90 club, a giving individual, and a legend in the making. What more can I say?”
Looks like Jay-Z stands true to his words… “I will not lose.”
