Kendrick Lamar isn’t in the least bit bothered by the attempts to respond to his verse on the Big Sean track, “Control.” TMZ crew caught up with the rapper and asked him how he felt about the responses.
“They gotta try harder,” he said.
The verse that Kendrick recorded caused a stir in the Hip Hop community, and left many saying that he slaughtered the rap game, calling out other artists who he thought to be operating at sub-par level.
“I’m usually homeboys with the same n****s I’m rhymin’ wit
But this is hip-hop and them n****s should know what time it is
And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big KRIT, Wale
Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake
Big Sean, Jay Electron‘, Tyler, Mac Miller
I got love for you all but I’m tryna murder you n****s”
Many rappers, even those who were never even called out in the verse, have since released their own versions of the response, including Meek Mill who released “Ooh Kill Em.”
A Paparazzi asked how he felt about Diddy’s Instagram post. Kendrick showed love for Jay-Z and Diddy, but dismissed everybody else’s attempt. “Thats the big homie, everybody else gotta try harder though.”
Earlier this week, the self-proclaimed king, with boss-like assurance, defended his new land at a show in Williamsburg Park, without even a mention to the verse or any of the responses.
