You know him as one of the original members of Goodie Mob or perhaps you know him as one half member of the group Gnarls Barkley but most know him as Cee Lo Green, a man whose past was one you didn’t want to mess with if you knew what was good for you.

Cee Lo Green showed a different side of himself on Howard Stern’s radio show this week, opening up about his difficult childhood, criminal past, and issues with Usher and Bruno Mars.

“The Voice” coach explained that he wasn’t too worried about Usher temporarily replacing him on the show because he “just kind of assumed” the ratings would drop.

Green told Stern about his father dying when the performer was just two years old, and caring for his mother after an accident left her quadriplegic.

Before he made it in the music business, Green said he was involved in “strong-arm robbery.”
