28-year-old Jermaine Cole’s Born Sinner album debuted on July 18th and struck gold as it sold 297,000 copies in the U.S in its first week of release. After watching his first album Cole World: Sideline Story sit on the throne at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, Cole promised his sophomore album, Born Sinner, will top it all… in which it did. “I think I’m somebody that’s finally starting to realize how good I am and starting to realize I can do anything I put my mind to, as cliche as it sounds,” he says.
If “cliche” is selling 559,000 copies in the U.S. in under 2 months, then so be it Cole!
Cole’s Born Sinner debuts an A-list package of artists and beats with guest appearances from Miguel and Jhene Aiko to track samples from R.Kelly’s “I Wish” to Notorious B.I.G.’s “Juicy”. We also see hit singles “Power Trip”, “Crooked Smile”, and “Forbidden Fruit” top the charts following the album release, keeping all Cole fans on the edge of their seats anticipating Cole’s next move! This tell-all album frames the game in hip hop, setting the bar that much higher for rappers to top. Job well done Cole!
