Barney New York has been feeling the heat after two black consumers accused the upscale brand of racial profiling. Now with Rap mogul Jay Z upcoming watch launch approaching, the rapper is feeling some pressure on whether to cancel the event. College student Travon Christian filed a lawsuit after being detained and accused of using a fraudulent card. Days later, 21 year old Kayla Philips says she was also wrongly accused of the same crime. Barney’s New York denies all claims and stands by their long history in support of all human rights. It will be interesting to see what side Jay Z falls on.
Will Jay Z care more about the launch of his watch line or will he take a position on possible racial discrimination of the young African American male that allegedly was racially profiled? Will he have loyalty to the youths who purchase his music or the few who could possibly afford to purchase his watch? What a tangled web…
