BET’s 2013 Black Girls Rock brought together a phenomenal group of women who have not only paved the way for the new generation, but amazing women that are currently carrying the torch, and making a positive impact in entertainment.
Held in Newark at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King, the show boasted performances from Janelle Monae, Kelly Rowland, Jennifer Hudson, Ledisi, and more.
While Twitter was a buzz last week as photos of Honoree Patti Labelle posing with Mariah Carey after presenting her with the Living Legends Award, Queen Latifah, Venus Williams, Mara Brock Akil, Misty Copeland, Ameena Matthews, and Marian Wright Edelmen were also honored for their work in the community.
