In February 1999, Eminem released his second album, The Slim Shady LP which was his first big release and the first of his albums to drop under Interscope Records and Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment. The album features production from Dr. Dre, the Bass Brothers, and Eminem himself. The theme and majority of the record’s lyrical content is written from the perspective of the rapper’s alter ego ‘Slim Shady’. Fans loved this recored because of Em’s over the top depictions of violence and heavy use of profanity. The album was both commercially and critically successful.
