Update – 11:30am: We have just spoken with credible witnesses that were at the Velvet room when Dekalb county police officers fired their weapons on Atlanta DJ Ronald Robinson aka Beestroh have told a different story on what actually happened that night.
According to our sources, it was the police who open fire on Robinson and not what was initially reported that the DJ had begun firing on the cops. Our source also stated that the DJ had only fired his licensed weapon when a male individual approached him and started shooting. The source further states that the officers involved in the shooting assumed Beestroh was the aggressor and began shooting at him before they identified themselves as police officers.
On Sunday, off duty Dekalb County Police Officers moonlighting as security for the night club Velvet Room responded to a call of shots fired in the rear of the club when they came upon Hot 107.9 radio personality DJ Beestroh who was allegedly engaged in a shootout with other unknown suspects. According to police sources, the cops identified themselves as police officers, however the DJ continued firing his weapon at them. Neither officer involved in the shooting were hurt but the DJ sustained a bullet wound to the foot.
Did he believe the cops were the people he had a shootout with earlier?
According to police officials, both officers were wearing their uniforms and also identified themselves as police officers. They returned fire and DJ Beestroh was shot in the foot. He returned back to the club where he was treated for his injuries and then placed under arrest. At press time, he was listed in stable condition at a local area hospital. He is scheduled to appear in front of a judge later today and be formally charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a police officer. Each count carries a 20 year sentence if convicted.
