A mistrial has been declared in the murder case of music executive James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond and his co-defendant Rodney Johnson. According to The Associated Press, U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon made the ruling Friday in Manhattan federal court after the jury said it was deadlocked.
Henchman and Johnson were on trial for conspiracy and murder for allegedly orchestrating a plan to murder 50 Cent and G-Unit affiliate, Lowell “Lodi Mack” Fletcher back in 2009. The hit allegedly stemmed from a beef in the streets between the two camps and Fletcher allegedly putting hands on Henchman’s teenage son at the time.
The trial included many witnesses, including many of the CZAR Entertainment boss’ former associates and colleagues who testified against him. Some of the people who testified were already in jail or have cases pending and were due to receive commuted sentences for testifying and cooperating which made their testimonials questionable and caused the mistrial.
Rosemond is already serving a life sentence for unrelated cocaine and drug smuggling charges and Johnson was also found guilty this week for conspiracy to distribute narcotics, weapons possession related to drug trafficking, and felony firearm possession. Rosemond was convicted last October of shipping cocaine in music equipment cases between studios in New York and Los Angeles.
Prosecutors said they’re considering options for a retrial against The Game’s former manager and his co-defendant. If re-tried and convicted, the one time music mogul could face the death penalty.
