Former Citigroup chairman and Time Warner CEO of Time Warner, Dick Parsons was named interim CEO of the Los Angeles Clippers franchise. This announcement comes a little more than a week after NBA Commissioner Adam Silver imposed a lifetime ban for Donald Sterling for racial remarks he made almost two weeks ago.

Parsons will oversee operations for the Clippers franchise while the league tries to force Sterling to sell it. Earlier this week, Clippers president Andy Roeser was placed on indefinite leave of absence to avoid potential complications for the new CEO. Parsons expressed his excitement by stating, “The Clippers are a resilient organization with a brilliant coach and equally talented and dedicated athletes and staff who have demonstrated great strength of character during a time of adversity. I am honored to be asked to work with them, build on their values and accomplishments, and help them open a new, inspiring era for their team.”

Shelly Sterling, wife of Donald Sterling and owner of 50 percent of stake in franchise, endorsed Parsons to become CEO of the franchise until the ownership issues are settled.

The Clippers are currently in the midst of a playoff series with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The series is tied at one game a piece and will resume tonight at 10:30 Eastern Standard Time with the interim Parsons now at the helm.
