Aaron Hernandez has been indicted by a grand jury on two counts of first-degree murder in connection with a July 2012 double murder in Boston.
Hernandez, the former New England Patriots tight end who has been in jail since late last June as he waits trial for the murder of Odin Lloyd, was indicted in the drive-by shooting deaths of Safiro Furtado and Daniel Abreu after an alleged nightclub incident in Boston’s South End. Hernandez’s arrest in the Lloyd case led investigators to take a new look at the double murders and whether the shootings were related. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty in the Lloyd case.
No trial date has been set on the charges in the Lloyd case.
