Entering into the final year of his five-year $11.8 million contract, Dallas Cowboys star receiver Dez Bryant is looking for a long-term contract extension.

Bryant is still in the midst of his rookie contract signed in 2010. He is expected to make $1.78 million this upcoming season.

Bryant is hoping that the Cowboys grant him his long term extension before the start of the regular season.

But Bryant didn’t stop there. He believes he should be among the highest-paid receivers in the league such as Calvin “Megatron” Johnson, Vincent Jackson, Larry Fitzgerald, and Mike Wallace.

Bryant told ESPNDallas.com ,”I deserve it. I feel like I do. I put the work in. But I let that kind of stuff take care of itself. It is what it is. I let my agent talk about it and give me some feedback.”

Well Bryant has proven to be a top notch receiver in the NFL thus far in his four years in the silver and blue uniform.

His production and solid numbers definitely support his case to be among the elite receivers in the NFL. Bryant has had two consecutive 1,000+ receiving yard seasons. Last season alone he had 93 receptions for 1,233 yards and 13 touchdowns. Bryant also caught 12 touchdowns in 2012 combining for 25 touchdown receptions over the past two seasons.

Not to mention Bryant has caught 58 percent of the passes that were thrown in his vicinity in the 2013 season and an eye-popping 66 percent the year prior.

All that said, with Bryant’s consistency there is no reason why Cowboys owner Jerry Jones should not give Bryant and agent the type of money and extension they are looking for during contract negotiations.
