The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) will hold its 27th annual Rhythm & Soul Music Awards on Thursday, June 26th in Los Angeles. During this event, hip hop mogul Jermaine Dupri and R&B megastar Ne-Yo will receive special honors. The event will also honor songwriters and publishers of the most performed ASCAP songs on the 2013 R&B/hip hop, rap and gospel charts.
Dupri, a Grammy Award-winning hip-hop artist, songwriter and producer, will be presented the ASCAP Founders Award. The award is one of the most prestigious honors that ASCAP gives to songwriters and composers who have created their own path and have made significant contributions to music along the way. Past recipients include Sean “Diddy” Combs, Dr. Dre, and Stevie Wonder.
Neyo, an ingenious songwriter and entertainer, will be honored with the ASCAP Golden Note Award, which is presented to songwriters, composers and artists who have reached and achieved astonishing career milestones. Past recipients of this award include Sean “Diddy” Combs, Jermaine Dupri, Jay-Z, LL Cool J, Usher, and Pharrell Williams.
During the ceremony, other top awards will also be given to the Songwriter of the Year, Publisher of the Year, Top R&B/Hip-Hop Song, Top Rap Song and Top Gospel Song. The event will also feature performances by some of the industry’s top songwriters/performers.
