Last night, those who were in attendance of HOT 97’s Summer Jam 2014 at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey were in for a real treat.  The night consisted of epic reunions, off stage robberies, and hip hop at its highest form.

One of the biggest, if not the biggest highlight of the night was 50 Cent’s set as he brought out members of G-Unit one by one.  First Lloyd Banks hit the stage to perform a snippet of “Fire, then Tony Yayo came out to do “So Seductive, and finally Young Buck performed “Shorty Wanna Ride”.  Unfortunately, Game was not there.

50 had the crowd totally captivated and then to add to an already impressive set, he brought out Fabolous to surprise fans with the “Cuffin Season” remix.  The crowd went crazy.

During Fab’s and 50’s remix performance an altercation broke out just off stage.  Slowbucks, a longtime industry professional, was upset, as he was not allowed to join in on stage.   It was rumored that 50 had Slowbucks beaten and his chain taken.  People in attendance also claimed that 50 Cent was sporting the chain during the same performance.  The status of the chain is still unconfirmed.

Next to hit the stage was Nicki Minaj.  She came through and shut Summer Jam down.  She opened up with bringing out Young Thug to perform ”Danny Glover”.  Minaj also brought out Soulja Boy to perform their recent hit “Yass Bitch”.  Minaj continued to set the bar as she brought out label mate Drake to perform some of his latest music.  The performance left many to speculate the relationship between Nicki and Drake.

Minutes into his performance Drake then jumped into the new Carter V single “Believe Me”.  Wayne hopped out and the crowd went berserk.  Wayne then performed his verse on Chris Brown’s “Loyal”.   The “Loyal” track was played numerous times last night.  Troubled singer Chris Brown was honored several times as he received a number of tributes from artists showing their support of him.  Brown was actually released from prison today.

Check out video from YMCMB’s performance last night below.

All in all, Summer Jam 2014 was a huge success. Last night proves that Hip Hop still lives and is doing just fine.  Let the summer begin.
