It has just been reported that legendary actress Ruby Dee has passed away. According to TMZ, Ruby was at her home in New Rochelle, NY when she died. Family and friends sat at her side during her last minutes.
Ruby Dee may best be known for co-starring in the 1961 film A Raisin in the Sun. She also appeared in such films as American Gangsta, The Jackie Robinson Story, and Do The Right Thing. During her career she has won Grammy, Emmy, and Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Awards. She has also received the National Medal of Arts and the Kennedy Center Honors.
Acting was just one part of the gifted Ruby Dee’s career. She was also very active in the civil rights movement alongside her husband Ossie Davis who passed away in 2005.

Ruby was 91 years old.
