[Switching Teams or Nah] Radio Personality Angie Martinez Resigns From HOT 97

Earlier today, “The Voice of New York”, Angie Martinez posted on Instagram that she was resigning from New York radio station HOT 97.  The announcement came as a shock to most who have grown accustomed to hearing Angie’s voice everyday on the HOT 97 airwaves. Her afternoon radio show has consistently been ranked #1 with more young listeners than any other radio program in the country.  We have to wonder what is the reasoning behind  the abrupt departure from the famed radio station.  Could she be headed to the competition?  Word on the street is that she could be taking her talents to rival station POWER 105.1, home of the popular “Breakfast Club Morning Show”. Today I resigned from HOT97. I am grateful to the Emmis family for my time with the company and the immeasurable way that it has shaped my life. We made history together in so many ways and I will cherish those memories and my friendships forever. This was one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make but ultimately it is time to move on, to grow and to be challenged in new ways. Saying goodbye is always emotional and bitter sweet but I am extremely excited about the future. Thank you HOT97 and most importantly….the listeners… for an unimaginable journey.
