August Alsina’s album Testimony debuted at number one on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums and number two on the Billboard 200 chart.  The album was released on April 15th, 2014 by Def Jam and has since received nothing but acclaim.  With tracks like “I Luv This Sh*t” and “Make It Home” featuring Jeezy, this twenty-one year old has already found the balance between love, sex, and the streets; which is pretty impressive.  He brings a new edge to R&B and further blurs the line between R&B and rap.

After finding recent success with his previous singles, August drops a new video this week for “FML” featuring Pusha T.  The new video goes to a very dark place that many of us can relate to.  There are many deeply rooted undertones in the Payne Lindsey directed video, some more disturbing than others, but this is why we love Hip Hop.  Hip Hop gives our community a platform to discuss some of the things we see, but rarely talk about.  The video delivers a needed message that should be appreciated in today’s world.
