Forbes magazine ran an article weeks ago that ruffled many feathers in the hip hop industry.  The headline read: “Hip Hop Is Run By A White, Blonde, Australian Woman”.  Sheesh…what a bold statement to make.  It’s like “the man” is doing his best to take Hip Hop from black America.  Good luck with that though.  The Forbes headline was later changed to “Hip-Hop’s Unlikely New Star: A White, Blonde, Australian Woman.”  According to MTV, the headline was changed “because it did not accurately reflect the content of the piece.”

No one can deny the fact that Iggy Azalea is slowly but surely impacting hip hop, especially with becoming the first woman in hip hop with two records relaxing at number one and number two on The Billboard 100, but to make her seem like she is bigger than the game itself, well, that’s just ludicrous.  And I don’t mean the brother who resides in Atlanta. I mean that Forbes statement is quite foolish and almost amusing if it wasn’t for its pure ignorance.

Iggy’s mentor T.I., who signed the blonde bombshell to his Grand Hustle imprint, was thrown off a bit by Forbes misinforming headline.  T.I. recently spoke with MTV News and had this to say in regards to the Forbes blunder, “She is running this moment in hip-hop, but to say running [hip hop]; that’s a very broad statement. Although I feel eventually that is the outcome.”  T.I. continued on by saying, “Let her work and let her grow and let her build, let her reap all the benefits of her hard work. And then once she has gotten to the place where we all know she will end up, then make the statement.”

Iggy has now been on top of he Billboard Hot 100 for five consecutive weeks with “Fancy” at number one and Ariana Grande’s “Problem” which features the Australian beauty at number two.  This accomplishment for Iggy ties Ashanti for the longest such run by a woman.

If you haven’t jumped on the Iggy Azalea bandwagon just yet, don’t worry because there are plenty of seats still available.  Chances are good that you have already got a little familiar with Ms. Azalea, but f you have not seen the “Fancy” video by Iggy by now, here’s your chance to catch up to the rest of the world.  Peep the video below.
