The Milwaukee Bucks have acquired the coaching rights to Jason Kidd. They have acquired these rights by way of a deal with the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for two future draft picks.

Brooklyn will receive second round picks in the 2015 and 2019 drafts as part of the exchange.

Larry Drew was relieved of his coaching duties in Milwaukee as a result of the deal following an abysmal season that saw the Bucks finish with the worst overall record in the NBA.

Kidd, in only his second year as a professional head coach, made the immediate leap from player to head coach last year upon his retirement from the NBA.

In his first season at the professional coaching ranks, Kidd managed to help guide the Nets to the postseason where they advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinals. They were eliminated in that series by the Miami Heat in five games.

Not too shabby for a former player making an instant transition from professional player to professional coach.

Now it will be interesting to see how Kidd will handle coaching a corps of young players. Especially, a group of young players on a team that is in a rebuilding phase. With one year of head coaching under his belt, it should not be much of a struggle for Kidd to take this franchise to new heights.

With the emergence of second-year guard/forward Giannis Antekoumpo, the veteran leadership of O.J. Mayo and recent first-round draft pick Jabari Parker, Kidd has a group of young talent that could bring the Bucks from the depths of futility.

However, a resurgence is not an overnight process. It will take time for this group of young players to adapt to a new head coach.

Although, Jabari Parker plays a much different position than Jason Kidd played, he can benefit greatly from having a future hall of famer as a head coach and mentor.

With the head coaching vacancy in Brooklyn, Lionel Hollins is the top candidate to become the next head coach of the Nets.
