Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall was cited for marijuana possession after being pulled over in Georgia on Friday afternoon. He was pulled over in Reynolds, Georgia for a window tint violation. When Police Chief Lonnie Holder approached Marshall’s vehicle he noticed a strong odor emanating from the vehicle.
8-10 grams of marijuana was discovered underneath the passenger-side visor. Marshall was cited for the possession but was not actually arrested because it was less than an ounce.
Marshall has to pay a mandatory fine for marijuana possession and window tint violation in order to prevent appearing before a judge in a court date set for Sept. 30.
Auburn’s athletic department has a drug policy in place that states that any infraction involving drugs should be reported to a head coach immediately. Any failure to report such an incident could result in sanctions.
Sanctions are the last thing Auburn wants to deal with now. Especially after losing in the 2014 BCS National Championship against Florida State. They would like to make another run to the National Championship but these off the field transgressions make it hard to accomplish that.
