“Miss. Greatest Living Entertainer” has proven the true meaning of her title. Beyonce closed out the VMA’s with her 16 minute performance and as usual it was remarkable. Leave it to Beyonce to bring a sense of relentless love, feminism, and family to the stage. “MTV Welcome to my world,” she says as she performs her entire 2013 self-titled album which included a video to each track.

At the end of the performance Jay-Z and Blu Ivy present Beyonce with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. It was quite iconic that at the 2011 VMA Awards, she announced she was pregnant at her performance. Now in 2014, to see Blu Ivy as a toddler was beautiful. Honored by her award, Queen Bey is one of most popular music artists worldwide. She has broken many records and is now a phenomenal music legend such as Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson himself.

Despite her wardrobe malfunction, Nicki Minaj shows out during her performance as usual. After recently doing a Beats By Dre and Target commercial, Nicki Minaj hits the stage along with Ariana Grande and Jessie J. The three performed their song “Bang Bang” which was also featured in the commercial.

18 year old Grande opened up the show with her Beyonce inspired leotard performing her “Break free” hit. She was also recognized for Best Pop Video for her single featuring Iggy Azalea titled “Problem.”

Nicki tones down her image, yet turns up with her performances. She and voluptuous perfomers had their “rumps” covered in anaconda snake print. Less than a week before the performance a boa constrictor bit a background dancer. Nicki Minaj always has the most exotic, creative looks.

Just as her video you can catch a lot of twerking in this performance. She makes it clear that there’s no room for petite women when she’s around. Of course there was much controversy over the extremely stimulating performance.

Performing on a more classy note, it’s no surprise that Usher makes a great performance. Usher booty bumps with Nicki Minaj in their “She Came To Give It To You” performance. He also performed another track off his forthcoming album titled Everything You Can Imagine. We can only anticipate what Usher has in store for his 8th album.

Sam Smith switched up the atmosphere at the awards. His performance featured a piano player and was more touching that the single’s audio itself. He is well known for featuring on Disclosure’s song “Latch” but sings his hit “Stay With Me.” The performance wasn’t long but the emotions were sensational. It was sad to see he didn’t win the Best Male Video Award to Ed Sheeran.
