New Orleans’ favorite son Dee Day gives Houston idols’ UGK and Scarface songs a do-over on this third installment of his weekly “Homage” freestyle series. A lover of the old skool, episodes one and two saw Dee Day reimagine songs from Dr Dre, Mobb Deep, Nas and Snoop Dog as he pays his respects to those that have paved his way. Even the video treatments themselves
have given a nod to the classics that birthed them courtesy of directors Ejaaz A. Mason & CRG Films. As Dee Day likes to put it,’new skool flow over these old skool beats’ but, don’t imagine for a second that the Crescent City emcee has nothing of his own to offer up his sleeve; “Homage” is simply a way to warm up the room as he prepares to drop his first official single, “One Time.”
