The Facebook page of McElroy is riddled with photos and videos McElroy posted with captions calling African-Americans monkeys and other derogatory names. There was one photo posted of the street scene with Michael Brown’s body with the caption ” Michael Brown already received justice. So please stop asking for it.” She has several postings on her Facebook page asking for prayers for officer Darren Wilson.
What brings her testimony into question comes from not only the length of time she waited to tell her story to law enforcement. Oddly, her statements were like that of Darren Wilson’s account even though she was likely not even present when the shooting occurred.
Back in 2007, she was convicted of check fraud and making a false claim of knowing a high-profile kidnapping suspect to police officers. McElroy even told the grand jury she was diagnosed with bipolar but hadn’t taken her medication in 25 years.
These are interesting credentials for a grand jury witness. Why Prosecutor Bob McCulloch allowed a witness with this type of shady background appear in front of the grand jury in the first place? It is a known fact that lawyers would never put a witness like this in front of an actual jury trial with such a questionable background. To believe McElroy (an obvious racist) would travel all the way to Mike Brown’s neighborhood on the day of his killing for no legitimate purpose is outrageous.
If the government is seriously trying to unearth wrongdoing in this case, they do not have to look far. This appears to be a clear case of prosecutorial misconduct and clear case of civil rights violations.
The Brown family is hoping for a resolution in the light of so many inconsistencies within the grand jury process. The investigation into civil rights violations is continuing by the US Department of Justice Civil Rights Division as well as other divisions of the department.
