This has to stop. Recently, breaking news has once again come out of New York. As if the police didn’t have enough controversy surrounding them, it seems as if things are about to get a lot worse. A video uploaded on Facebook days ago by a witness shows NYPD officers holding two 12-year-old children in custody for quite some time before seemingly out of nowhere, another cop arrives on the scene and starts repeatedly hitting one of the cuffed young kids. This despicable act was caught on camera as with most issues dealing with police these days, one of the witnesses had this to say in the caption of the recorded video…
“This happened today on my way to the post office. The kids were 12. They had supposedly pushed one of their classmates down. However when the victim was asked, he said those weren’t the guys. They were still taken away. 12. Years. Old.” the witness, Sarah Doneghy went on to write.
As you can see as you watch the video, the witnesses are consistently demanding for the unnecessary brutality to stop and go on to record the scene escalate. One of the young kids handcuffed is even a witness this and after reading the caption, are as innocent as can be. Like many other cases against police, we will see how and if this story is looked into any further but like previous decisions prior to this, I think we may already know the answer to that. However, this video shines a light on the fact that witnesses are no longer simply recording an incident and placing it online but are actually taking a stand and speaking up for what’s right. Luckily one of the witnesses that was there identified herself as an attorney and she too was extremely upset at the fact the police were abusing the teen while being handcuffed. How will the police explain this obvious assault being committed by one of their own? Just shameful!!!
