In its opening week, J. Cole’s new album “2014 Forest Hills Drive” already did great numbers within its first week without any singles or traditional marketing plan. Now in its second week, the album is certified Gold, with selling over 300,000 copies. The RocNation rapper announced the release date week before and decided to release music video after fans purchased the album. Titled after his childhood home address in North Carolina, Cole goes back to his stories of adolescence, love, oppression, and empowerment.
“What’s the price for a black man life / I check the toe tag, not a zero in sight.” Raps J. Cole.
Staying true to his meaning of hip hop, J. Cole has created one of this years’ best gems in hip hop.
