2014 was the year of independence for Trinidad James after announcing in August that he had been dropped from Def Jam records, going independent, and dropping a few singles here and there. Today, he drops a brand new called “The Wake Up,” it’s safe to say that it has a new and different vibe than “All Gold Everything.” On one song called “Get Dressed” James gets a little emotional and admits “Sometimes I wish I never started rapping.” Also, the 5-track EP looks like Trinidad James is working on his production skills.
