Trinidad James, who was recently released from his contract with Def Jam Records, is not discouraged or stepping away from the game. He’s been releasing music that is of an entire different caliber than that of which he produced under the major label, clearly proving that the independent route was probably the best way for him to go all along.
Last week, he liberated a conscious record featuring Tef Poe that illustrated the aforementioned quality music that James is evidently pursuing with his new music. The record is entitled This America & creatively addresses some of the wrongs we tend to look past in the country we live in today.
Today, we receive a 5-track EP from the ATL rapper entitled The WAKE Up EP. Judging from the way we are introduced with the first track from the project, we can assume that James is finding his identity within his music. The days of being a slave to the major labels are over; he now shapes his own sound.
