Roc Nation’s head-honcho Jay Z along with several of his friends headed over to the world-famous Madison Square Garden to launch the Roc Nation Sports Presents: Throne Boxing on Friday night. The inaugural event was attended by the likes of Rihanna, Director Spike Lee, actors Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael K. Williams, actress and The View co-host Rosie Perez just to name a few. The night’s musical entertainment was provided by rapper Fabulous and super producer/Dj Mustard and it was hosted by Power 105’s Angie Martinez.
The main event ended with 20-year-old Dusty Hernandez-Harrison defeating Tommie Rainone by unanimous decision to improve his record to 25-0.
On Friday morning, Roc Nation Sports announced the signing of another high-profile athlete, current WBA and The Ring super middleweight champion Andre Ward. With a record of 27-0, Ward confirmed the news on Instagram, and joins a roster that includes NBA superstar Kevin Durant, the NFL’s Dez Bryant, Victor Cruz, Geno Smith and Ndamukong Suh, and MLB stars Yoenis Cespedes, C.C. Sabathia and Robinson Cano.
