Noisey just released part one of its new series giving viewers an inside look of Atlanta’s buzzing rap music scene and the drug trade that fuels the music.
The 10-part docu-series kicks off with host, Thomas Morton, discussing the drug trade and the definition of “the trap” with “hood” personality Curtis Snow (Snow on Da Bluff). He also gets a close up of Snow whipping up small batch of dope in the kitchen.
After getting schooled on what it means to be in the trap, Morton heads to the infamous Patchwerk studio to talk with Black Mafia Family’s Bleu Davinci about the rise and fall of Big Meech and BMF in the 90’s. After a game of pool, Davinci drapes Morton out in his flashy BMF chain as they head out to meet ATL rap trio, Migos.
Barium “Bleu Davinci” McKnight received a five-year sentence for his role in the organizations criminal activities — eight months less than the government’s recommendation, due in part to the fact that he agreed to share information with authorities according to court records. McKnight also was not willing to testify against other defendants.
“He would have liked to have cooperated if he could have,” his attorney, David MacKusick, said. “But he didn’t have any useful information.”
Future episodes of the series will feature many of Atlanta’s rap stars including Jeezy, 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, Young Thug, and Rich Homie Quan. The docu-series will also feature super-producers Mike Will Made It, 808 Mafia, and Metro Boomin.
So far, the documentary looks to provide viewers with an in-depth and informative look into a darker side of Atlanta. Â You can check out the first part of the series above.
