Dj Smallz recently sat down with hit-making super producer DJ Toomp and the two discussed a series of topics one of which included his thought’s on rapper TI’s last album project Paperwork. The two have enjoyed a very successful working relationship in the past but this time Toomp explains that he believes the album wasn’t that good. He also pointed out that there were music omissions from the project that could have potentially made the album sales do better.
In another part the interview, DJ Toomp briefly speaks about their past strained relationship that resulted from some checks not being cut for the popular producer.
The fact that TI just moved to a new label (Sony) and the fact marketing team wasn’t familiar with how to market him only added to poor sales. Did Sony music rush the project without giving consideration to the artist creative process? These are likely some of the reasons record sales are at an all time decline for rappers.
