    Dame Dash

Dame Dash has released the first chapter of his new book Culture Vultures. In a partnership with Kenyatta Griggs of Hip Hop Motivation, chapter one has been presented in an audiobook format. The opening is titled “Life After Corporate Wealth”, where he details his upbringing and the importance of his mother to his independence.

“Everything that I am is because of my mother, independence was very important to her.She never relied on anyone for anything, I always seen my mother take nothing and turn it into something.”

Dame also discusses the importance of reading, writing and the ability to do math. While he personally found experience as his best teacher, he believes that, “It’s best you go to school until you find out what it is you want to become and when you do find what that is my advice is that you go out and live it.”

There is a moment where Dame Dash speaks on the Roc-a-Fella break up in which he states, “He went corporate, and I decided to stay independent. There was no beef…I’m proud of Jay Z’s success as well as Kanye’s success. Inside I feel like I had something to do with their success. I don’t have anything but positive things to say.”

Dame Dash has a way of getting people to listen and with the music in the background, there is a certain feeling you get when listening. All indications this is going to be a great book, no matter what form you may complete in. Dash has never been afraid to bite his tongue so when he inevitably gets to discussing the Marc Eckos, DJ Vlads, Lyor Cohens and Steve Stoutes of the world, all people he has called culture vultures, it is going to have the hip hop culture tuned in.
