    Justice For Freddie Gray

“There will be justice for Freddie Gray,” said Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake shortly after State Attorny announced the charges being levied against 6 Baltimore police officers.

Prosecutor, Marilyn Mosby, held a press conference announcing the criminal charges being filed against six police officers who illegally arrested 25-year-old Freddie Gray and failed to provide him with proper medical attention that resulted in his wrongful death.

On the steps of the War Memorial building in Baltimore Mosby said, “To the people of Baltimore and the demonstrators across America, I heard your call for ‘no justice, no peace.’ Your peace is sincerely needed as I work to deliver justice on behalf of this young man.

The decision to charge the officers is a result of the prosecutor’s office running a separate parallel investigation from the internal police investigation. The decision came swiftly and are as follows:

Officer William Porter, 25, charged wit involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault, and misconduct in office.

Officer Edward Nero, 29, charged with second-degree assault and misconduct in office.

Officer Garrett Miller, 26, charged with second-degree assault, false imprisonment, and misconduct in office.

Sgt. Alicia White, 30, charged with involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault, and misconduct in office.

Lt. Brian Rice, 41, charged with involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault, and misconduct in office.

The driver of the police wagon that Gray was placed into, Officer Caesar Goodson Jr., 45, was charged with manslaughter, second-degree murder, vehicular manslaughter, second-degree assault, and misconduct in office.

After hearing the declaration of the officers being charged with the responsibility of Gray’s death people cheered and exclaimed justice in the streets of Baltimore.

The next 30 days are going to be crucial in this process for justice as the officers will have to go before a grand jury in order to be officially indicted on the charges levied against them.
