Been Steph Curry with the shot! Golden State’s All-Star point guard is going to win his first MVP award. Multiple sources have reported that Stephen or Steph Curry will officially be name Most Valuable Player later Monday. At age 27, this is a big moment for the superstar and the franchise, as he will be the first player to win the award while playing for Golden State Warriors since Wilt Chamberlain in 1960. They were the Philadelphia Warriors back then so this has been a long time coming for fans of the Warriors.
Steph Curry broke the NBA record for three-pointers in a season (286), which was previously held by himself. He averaged 23.8 points, 7.7 assists while shooting 48.7 percent from the floor and 44.3 percent from behind the three-point line! All while leading the Warriors to a team record in wins with 67 and the number one seed in the Western Conference. Curry beat out LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, James Harden and Anthony Davis for the award, all who had some truly amazing seasons.
Curry was considered too small, injury prone, and a bad defender for most of his career, now he has shed those labels and the only one that matters is MVP. Only thing that could cap it off is a NBA Championship. The MVP trophy will be presented on the court Tuesday before Game 2 of the Grizzlies and Warriors Western Conference semifinal game. Congrats to Stephen Curry for the tremendous season.
