Rawyals, the new R&B girls trio on the block, score a major video premiere for their debut single “King Me” via MTV affiliates and VH1 Soul.
The group is formed by members Asia Shabazz, Ariel Nicholson, and Bel Cabrera. Each member of the group was handpicked by music mogul Kedar Massenburg who backed artist such as India Arie, Erykah Badu, and D’Angelo. The music industry veteran has been carefully developing Rawyals and has labled them “a force to be reckoned with now and for years to come.”
Both the song and the music video for King Me has a nostalgic 90’s R&B girl group feel similar to that of Destiny’s Child, TLC, and SWV. The members of Rawyals grew up in the age where these groups reigned supreme and they seem more than ready to fill this void in the music industry.
The ladies of Rawyals definitely have chemistry in front of the camera and in their music. They give off a crazy, sexy, cool vibe to create a dynamic that hasn’t been seen in over a decade. The girls have spent many hours working with musical mentors Stevie Mackey, Lydia Mouton, Arturo Spinetti and Craig Derry.
Rawyals is currently working on their EP titled In The Raw due out digitally on June 30, 2015 and will feature Wale, Remy Ma, Troy Ave, and the “Trap Queen” hit maker Fetty Wap.
