Singer Omarion scores his first ever number 1 single on Billboard‘s mainstream R&B/Hip hop chart in nearly a decade. The Chris Brown and Jhene Aiko-asissted single “Post To Be,” from his album “Sex Playlist,” is Omarion’s first number one as a lead artist and the second was in 2005 on Bow Wow’s “Let Me Hold You Done.” Since his first number one single was a decade ago, he beats out Mariah Carey’s record of having the longest breaks between number one peaks.
The song became popular due to Jhene Aiko’s catchy lyrics in her verse. “If your dude come close to me/He gon’ want to ride off in a ghost with me (I’ll make him do it)/I might let your boy chauffeur me/But he got to eat the booty like groceries/But he gotta get rid of these hoes from me.” she sings.
The “Post To Be” remix recently dropped a few days ago and features guest appearances from Rick Ross, Ty Dolla $ign, Trey Songz, and Dej Loaf. Produced by DJ Mustard, the West Coast track has given Mustard another hit record. Other notable DJ Mustard singles are Big Sean’s “I Don’t Fuck With You” and T.I.’s “No Mediocre” featuring Iggy Azalea.
It took Mariah Carey nine years to produce a number one hit after “Always Be My Baby” was released and that happened when 2005’s “We Belong Together” ran up the charts.
